You got what you wanted (If you voted Democrat)!

I am not a big fan of Democrats because I do not agree with what they stand for. Here in MN, the Democrats that just got elected decided that they needed more of our money to prop up either the schools or some other pet project. They are submitting an unbelievable amount of bills for tax increases. We are already being taxed enough in this state, but the Democrats think they need money. I am not for any tax increase, Federal, State or otherwise because they have proven that they cannot live within their means (i.e Do not spend more than you take in) Why should we allow them to increase taxes when they cannot spend the money that we do pay responsibly?

All of this talk about the current Attorney General and the need for him to resign is utter hypocrisy. I guess the Democrats have a really short memory when it comes to firing US Attorneys. Alberto Gonzalez is under fire for only wanting to fire 8 attorneys. Remember that Bill Clinton fired all 93 US Attorneys when he was in office and don't tell me that it wasn't politically motivated especially when one of those attorneys was investigated him at the time.

The hypocrisy is unbelievable!! What can we do when there is a definite double-standard?

My first day on the new job

Well, I was pretty excited about my new job and I got to work about 15 mins early today. I started training right away and spent most of the day learning how things are done. What I like about this job is that I have to use my brain and think more. I am also learning a new system, new procedures, etc. It was also nice to leave work at 5:30 instead of 7:00pm. It is very quiet on the 3rd floor and the phone is not ringing incessantly! In fact, my phone did not ring once today!

Things I will miss about my old job

The people that I worked with for 5 years.

Some of the customers (notice I said, some not all)

I think once I get past the learning curve, this will be a good job for the foreseeable future. Not to mention that I will enjoy what I do!

The Week in Review

This has been a busy week for our family, so I will try to recap it backwards, starting with today

Friday 3/2 - We have been in the new place for one week, still getting adjusted and getting used to new surroundings, etc. I have to go to work today even though the weather is supposed to be bad and we have over a foot of snow on the ground. No seminary classes today because of the weather. The bright spot is that I only have one more day in my old job and the new one starts on Tuesday.

Thursday 3/1 - Today was my first day back at work after being off for moving, etc. The weather is awful and I was surprised that they did not shut down today. We were eventually sent home at 3 PM because of the weather. It took me an hour to get home.

Wednesday 2/28 - I am off work today (last day off this week) I went to turn the keys back in for our old apartment and found out that we did a great job cleaning and we will be getting our deposit back. I did have class today and in my Expository Preaching class, I had to preach today from Genesis - I preached from Genesis 12 on Make me a blessing. I have to really work on a lot of bad habits/idiosyncracies that I have acquired over the years.

Tuesday 2/27 - We went to Southern MN today for my wife's grandmother's funeral. Joseph will come home with us today and will spend his first night in the new apartment. I hope that he will adjust to his new surroundings with minimal problems.

Monday 2/26 - Off work today -- we spent most of today cleaning the old apartment. We really need to get that deposit back and I think we will. It is hard leaving the old place since it was our first home when we got married and it was our son's first home. We have moved to a bigger place about nine miles away. We were so spoiled living close to where I work and also very close to the church & seminary.

Sunday 2/25 - Did not get out for church this morning because of the snow, they finally plowed our parking lot this afternoon. We listened to our church service over the radio -- heard that there was less than 200 people there. If we were at the old place, we probably would have made it. It took me 20 minutes to get my car unstuck from the snow. Made it for church Sunday evening.

Saturday 2/24 - We still have moving to do, but all of the big items are moved. The weather is supposed to be bad later today. We are still tired from moving yesterday. We stopped about 6:00 pm because of the weather and went to fill up one car with fuel and got some groceries. Roads are getting bad

Friday 2/23- Moving day. Movers arrived an hour earlier than our scheduled time, which caused some problems in our household. In-laws arrived and then got some bad news shortly after their arrival; they found out that my father-in-law's mother passed away. They stayed until the afternoon and then went back home, they took Joseph with them, so we could get the moving finished. Movers did a great job and saved us a lot of time. Lots of work to be done to get this place organized.
